Reflection Reflection Reflection

"Experience is not what happens to a man;
it is what a man does with what happened to him." Aldous Huxley

'How do I record my reflections' or 'What do I write in my CAS journal/blog?'

Reflecting is a skill, and as such needs to be developed and practiced.
To help you with this process, consider the following three levels of reflection:

  • The microscope
What happened? What did you plan to do? What did you do?
Describe the experience
  • The mirror
 How did you feel? What did you perceive? Did the activity mean anything to you? What value did it have? Have you learned something about yourself?
  • The binocular
What were the outcomes for you and the people you were working with? What could be done differently, and why?
Could you apply what you have learned more widely?

But please do not simply answer all these questions. Use them to guide you.
